Brian & Kristie’s chic Atlanta wedding at Ambient Plus Studio was on a perfect day in the summer. The venue is in downtown Atlanta where I have shot before. In addition, it’s wonderful, and all the details were immaculate. It was on the front-end of a double-header weekend. Also, I had two double-header weekends in a row. So, this was the first of four crazy weekends I was going to have in roughly a week. Consequently, when you have those kinds of months, it is easy to fall into a slump, yet, I would argue that the first wedding has to be as good as the last one. Also, thanks to Michael Turner for helping me out with shooting this wedding.
I had plenty of time to knock out groomsmen and bridesmaids pictures before the ceremony including all of the details. Ambient Plus is one of my favorite venues in Atlanta because every time I shoot there light hits the venue differently and the portraits and always unique. The day was slightly overcast so it provided some really pleasing light to work with. Also, the color palette they chose for their bridal party’s outfits worked really well with the light coming in. Because of this, it was the easiest set of pre-ceremony portraits I have ever taken. Rather than take them outside during the middle of the day, we decided to stay inside.
This ceremony was both emotional and a ton of fun. The flower alter from Fun & Fancy Flowers was such a great detail, and it made for a uniquely beautiful backdrop for this chic Atlanta wedding. Once Brian saw Kristie for the first time that day he began to cry. It is always such a great and meaningful moment when the couple sees each other in this fashion on their day. Everyone is so happy for them, and it is a perfect moment.
After, we explored the the outside of the venue and the couple blocks around it to find some new spots to take their portraits. I shoot the same venue over and over and consequently the problem is delivering photos that look like the last wedding you shot there. As a result, I try to do something new and fresh for each couple every time. It’s important to go above and beyond with every new clients because you will continue to push yourself and most of all they will be happier.
In addition to dinner, there were some great toasts given by the maid of honor and best man. Then, nothing but dancing. Since the venue had an infinity wall on one side of the room, everyone took to the dance floor. As a result, they partied for the next couple of hours. Also, it’s awesome to see the bride and groom dancing as well because oftentimes they get caught up with talking to their guests the whole time. Brian and Kristie definitely got on the dance floor and had some fun.
After, the DJ then announced that there was one more song and of course the final dance was to an original song that Brian had written for Kristie (listen to it here). As if this wedding was beautiful enough they go and do this? They then had the floor to themselves, and it was probably the best moment of the whole day. Finally, the left right after sunset after that to close the night perfectly.
